Welcome to AJoy, more formally known as the a cappella joy chorus, the 2011 Gold medalists for North Pacific SAI Region #13.

We are women who love to sing well and have fun at the same time! We range in age from 15 to 70-something and we come from all walks of life, but we share the same love of music and dedication to excellence. We are always on the lookout for new members, so if you love to sing, and are willing to work hard, please check us out. You'll love us - and our sound!

AJoy belongs to Sweet Adelines International (SAI), an organization of 30,000 women barbershop singers world-wide. The chorus is based in Kirkland, Washington and is a Chapter of the North Pacific SAI Region #13 which includes Washington, Alaska, western Idaho and the northwest corner of Montana. Originally founded as the Lakeside Chorus in 1958, we have a proud tradition of musical excellence, education, and fun!

We love to share our music with audiences, and we perform frequently throughout the year at venues ranging from retirement homes to the regional competition stage. We've even performed in a paddock at Bridle Trails State Park! If you'd like to hire us to sing for you, please Contact Us

Summer shows - June 30 & July 1 - Featuring Northwest Sound, AJoy, the Kentucky Vocal Union, and Frenzy!

Following our SOLD OUT holiday performances in 2010, AJoy is thrilled to, once again, join forces with the Northwest Sound chorus for two performances on June 30th at the Sammamish HS Performing Arts Center in Bellevue. And we’re ecstatic to announce our two fabulous guest groups: the Kentucky Vocal Union – the current BHS 6th place chorus in the world – and Frenzy, the current SAI International medalist 8th place quartet who blew away audiences this past fall in Houston at the Sweet Adeline International Contest.

AJoy is the 1st Place Chorus for Region 13 (2011)

When we took the stage at this year's chorus competition, Nikki simply asked us to sing as AJoy, giving the audience the love and energy we feel for our music and our musical family. That's just what we did, and we enjoyed every moment on stage. As if that wasn't enough, the judges rewarded us with a score of 591 points - an improvement of 44 points over our 2010 score. With the performance, we earned medals for 1st Place Midsize Chorus and 1st Place Chorus Overall, ribbons for Most Improved Chorus, and a huge amount of energy to see what we can do next! What's next? The Sweet Adelines International Contest in Denver - 2012!

Frenzy earns 8th place medals in Houston!

For the very first time since we became a cappella joy, this chorus was represented in the International Quartet Competition! And, boy! They wowed the world! We are so proud of Frenzy, and are tickled pink that our fabulous director and two of our dual members placed in the top 10 their very first time competing internationally. Watch out, Denver!
